Yoga Classes Held at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital Rehabilitation Services

Get healthy in 2020! The rehabilitation services department at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital has once again teamed up with Shelbyville Yoga to offer three different yoga classes in the community. Yoga is a great activity for a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching with deep breathing and meditation or relaxation.

An evening yoga class is held on Tuesday and Thursdays at 5 p.m. Starting January 15, an additional class on Wednesdays will be added. Evening yoga is held in the lower level of rehabilitation services building located at 201 S. Cedar St.

A chair yoga class is held at the Shelby County Senior Center on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. Chair yoga is a great way for older adults to loosen and stretch muscles, while providing a safer alternative for exercise.

Golden yoga is held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8:50 a.m. in the lower level of rehabilitation services. “This class is taught by our occupational therapy assistant, Teri Whalen,” said Tonya Bowrey, manager of rehabilitation services. “The golden yoga class enables individuals with replaced joints, balance difficulties or shoulder movement limitations to participate in yoga, too.”
